This little gal was painted in a run of rainbow thoroughbreds and was my ‘red’ model. She’s an older horse, as you can tell by the fuzzy nature of the photos and lacks a lot of the shading of the newer customs.

Still, I like the color pattern, even if it’s not as realistic as I tend to lean. I came back to this pattern with Red Baron, but looking at the contrast between the painting styles —one soft and one sharp— I think that the softness was a better match for Sky. She was meant to mimic clouds and I think pushing the fantasy really helped her match that.
