Predictably Unpredictable

Blogging consistently has never been an easy goal for me, but this year I’ve managed post to the MegaBlog every day. The downside to this is that the model horse ‘filler’ posts have taken over some weeks. While the horse to non-horse posting ratio has improved, it’s nowhere near where I was hoping it would be five months in.

Things are getting better, but apparently I need to work a little bit harder at failing upwards.

Assinging days a topic and sublog to brainstorm on has helped a bit, but for the most part I’m still posting whatever happens to pop to mind on any given day. I have no buffer posts (beyond the horses), so I’m writing things the night before they go live.

This needs to change, and fast.

November and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a lot closer than it looks and the goal was to have the entire month in queue so I can focus on my writing. While I will be doing daily progress reports, I’d like to have actual content for folks to wander whilst I am off in NaNoLand chasing the Muses.

And I will not fall back on 30 days of model horses (although I do have 99 horses left to post, not including the new ones and the works-in-progress).

So June will be my test run of a new ‘writing backwards’ strategy. I’m going to sit down this weekend and write like a crazy person (in-between various social gatherings). Working from the previous schedule and starting with the 30th of June, I’ll be working my way backwards until I hit the 1st.

Can I write thirty posts in a three-day weekend? No clue! But I figure it can’t hurt to try… If things go well, I’m going to try and keep the momentum going until I have a nice thick buffer that’s made up of mostly-not-horses.

Now I just have to go brainstorm some topics…
