This little guy was gone towards the end of my customizing run, as you can tell by the background and headshot. I’d started working heavily with the pastels at this point, both Golden and Round Tuit were attempts at using pastels over an acrylic basecoat.

Golden has a basecoat of light cream and pastels and then pastels were used to build up the color. As you can see with the extended brown on the markings, I should have gone a little darker on the legs.

While I do love the way the pastels add shading, I think going forward I’m going to build up the color with the acrylics and use the pastels for accents. I just don’t have the patience to build up the twenty-odd layers that true pastel work requires.
