This shared topic (May 16-22) is brought to you by Blog Azeroth and a now vanished post from Christine which has been reposted on Amerence Love WoW.
If you are an mmo gamer/world of warcraft player, just curious what you eat while playing the game in real life…
I’m coming at this week’s prompt a little sideways because I don’t eat when I play. I’ve been meaning to find things to munch on, since right now I stop to go have dinner. Being able to snack while I maul things would be a nice change.
I rarely take my hands off the controls to eat (other than to grab screenshots for da blog), so I’m going for finger foods that are safe around keyboards. I’m also looking for things that are outside the normal cookies/chips/candy range that seems to define the stereotypical gamer. I’m not a teenager anymore so I need to stop eating like one! *sheepish grin*
Veggies and fruit are always good, but dips have to be thick and clingy– more fluid enhancements will just drip on the keyboard. You’ll want to pick veggies that aren’t too watery as well, I pat the cucumbers and apples dry before noshing away.
- Carrots and Peanut Butter
- Dried Fruit
- Hardboiled eggs
- Pita and Hummus
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Broccoli/Mushrooms/Celery and Ranch dip
- Olives?
- Frosted Mini Wheats
- Apples and cheese
- Cucumbers and Bean dip
- Frogs on a Log (celery filled with peanut butter and resins on top)
- Granola
There were some fun links this time around! The Gamer’s Fridge is a blog dedicated to taking food from games and making them into real life recipes. The Bear Steaks look wonderful– but not something I’d eat whilst at the keyboard.
Moonkin Journey’s has a more familiar fare focusing on coffee, cookies, and the beloved PB&J. That got me thinking how to pull off bite-sized sandwiches akin to sliders. Hmm…
Amerence Love WoW is brave enough to break out the salsa and chips, but I think that’s a bit too daring for me.
Kamalia et alia shares the chocolate love, but seconds the pizza as a good raiding food. I suppose I just haven’t mastered the art of keeping the cheese off the keyboard.
the violet scribe covers all of the bases from soda to chips to pizza rolls (a good alternative to messy slices!) and hints about a ‘Chocolate Bombs’ that I’m going to have to keep an eye out for.
Edit: I apparently flew right over Stands In Life’s Fires entry– I blame it on the lack of pizza. *solemn nod* She’s got a much more unique list than the rest of us (I had no idea you could stir-fry bamboo) and I have a sudden urge to see if I can find crystallized ginger at my grocery store.
But now I’m craving the semi-sweet dark chocolate chips in my freezer, so I’m off for a snack…
Hi Martha! Thanks for the recap and your participation of the shared topic about the top 5 fave mmogamers food. chips and salsa is the least of my favorites, I still love pizza as my first choice. And you mentioned about bite sized food it is great! pizza rolls are good for it too. Anyway… Thanks again hon… glad few more people participated… ๐ have a great day!
P.S I will add your link in my site soon with the other responses. Just using my phone atm, my internet is not working.
I’m definately going to keep my eye on The Gamer’s Fridge– that’s one yummy blog concept! ๐
The shared topics seem a bit hit or miss for participation, so I’m trying to get involved in more of them (and to share the linklove). Hopefully this week’s topic will be one I can blog on. *crosses fingers*
Also I forgot to mentioned that You missed one participant, his is interesting with the likes of wine. check it out!

Whoops! Will update the post in just a moment… Sorry Stands In Life’s Fires!
Hi there! Thanks heaps for the mention, I’m still getting into the whole blogging thing X.X
Your choices sound like something I should try, and crystallized ginger is normally with either the health food or the “snacks and sweets” depending on the store. I can’t live without it. =)
I’ve had no luck tracking down the ginger yet, but there’s still a few places to check. I think I may give up and grab some ginger cookies and pretend… *grin*

I think you will like the Frostberries. A great, keyboard-friendly gaming snack.
