As you can tell by the giant gaping holes (aka lack of a second post) in the serial story The Wolves We Are, I’m running a bit behind.

Okay, maybe alot behind.

But the whole purpose of Wolves was to find out what works and what doesn’t. Since what I’m trying now (writing linearly to an outline) isn’t working, it’s time to head back to the drawing board.

Maybe I’m not outlining enough, maybe I’m trying to hard to write things in order, maybe I’m having problems ‘finding’ the plot because it’s the wrong one… Maybe I should just scrap it all and start something new. (Kidding, kidding!)

So where do we go from here? Not sure yet, but thankfully I have lots of index cards and colored markers to help me sort it out. Never underestimate the power of art supplies…

All of this means bad news for my long term plan of posting the serial stories as I write them (with a solid buffer) but good news for those of you yearning for another post on ‘How To Write a Story: Version 234287625.1’.
