Shapeshifting Addicts Anonymous

Poof!

“Hello, my names are Pattern & Recognition and I am a shape-changing addict…”

Time again for another Blog Azeroth inspired post!

(Mostly because I’m having a heck of a time working out the new action bar idea and I needed a break. With luck, I’ll have an updated post Tuesday on the various stumbling blocks I’ve hit.)

So, without further ado here’s my response to the Shared Topic Apr 11-17, 2011: Weird gaming habits.

Most everyone has a routine for when they play WoW, but do you have any habits that are particularly eccentric? Do you always log out in the same place, try on other’s gear when inspecting, or obsessively spam a macro or trinket at weird times? Out of game, do you have to crack your knuckles every time you take a flight path, put on your PJs in order to really get into the game, or tab out immediately upon wiping?

Does picking punny names count as a habit?

I don’t care where I log out, or what other people are wearing. I don’t have WoW PJs or play Bejeweled whilst waiting for raids. I have no specials snackfoods or drinks, nor any unusual play habits other than sometimes having a cat who attempts to sleep on my mouse (and mouse-hand).

I’m not much of an emoter, probably because I don’t really roleplay with my toons. It doesn’t occur to me to /wave or /lick people simply because I wouldn’t be waving or licking them in real life. (Amusingly the other responses to the thread seem very fond of bouncing up and down, running in circles, and /lick’ing with great gusto.)

I did pick up the habit of constantly changing forms on my main (Ashella) and tend to meander back and forth from bear to cheetah. I can throw in my DoomCrow form now too, since flying + Stormwind = fastest daily evar.

I love to run around changing forms, more so with Pattern and Recognition since they are simultaneous changes and it confuses people. So there is a lot of cat -> cheetah -> bear/boomkin -> cat -> and so on.

I am also guilty of starting bear dances in front of the auction house.

Sometimes we get whole congas of bears.

The shame. *hangs head*

After reading all of the posts on the topic, I’m sort of inspired now to start looking for a weird quirk to call my own (other than the constant shifting).

/lick … Hmm.

And because I’ve taken up the call of sharing the link love, here’s the run-down of everyone else who has posted on this topic! (Updated as folks add themselves to the forum post.)

I don’t know if punny names count, but I do like yours!
