Mold: Arabian (G2)
Color: Amber Champagne Overo
Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?
This was half of a custom order and my first attempt at painting an Amber Champagne. (The unnamed scratching foal was done in the same coat color).
I pulled down a lot of reference photos, since the champagne gene is a bit more challenging that your average dun. I think I did a pretty good job capturing the coloration, but I think I could do better if I tried again.
The mottling around the nose and eyes needs to be a bit more pronounced I think and the color is a little off from Amber (it’s more of a Classic. *pokes horse*
Anywho, for anyone else looking to paint a champagne horse, the International Champagne Horse Registry has some great close-up photos and the Wikipedia page is a good place to start digging for data.
