Fragaria Glaze (Custom Breyer Stablemate Quarter Horse)

Fragaria Glaze
Fragaria Glaze

Why I didn’t just call him Strawberry Glaze, I have no idea. Fragaria is the genus name for strawberries, so I’m assuming I was feeling overly literate when I named him.

He was actually a bit of a pain to paint, since the red didn’t cover the black as well as I had hoped it would. Because of that, the edges of the blanket are a bit more translucent that I would have liked. I was going for something more along the lines of Neverland Flyboy‘s pattern, but I ended up with a much softer edge.

Still, I think he turned out well overall– the colors are a very vivid contrast and he really stands out on a shelf. Not sure where he is now, but hopefully his new owners renamed him!
