This little guy was the third micro I ever painted, and you can tell! Thankfully this little guy is still on my shelf, so he’s on the list to go back under the brush for an update as soon as my skills are back up to par.

Of course it’s much easier to see his flaws this big– he’s actually only about an inch tall so the rough dappling doesn’t look as bad without the magnification. The thumbnail is a little bigger than he is in real life, and you can see the flaws smooth out a little with distance.

The micros from Mandi Hickman were the first non-mass produced horses that I had a chance to customize. I still love them dearly, but the amount of detail that Maggie has managed to fit into her pewter micros has significantly raised the bar for future purchases.

Which makes me a little reluctant to go back and repaint my MH molds… I know no matter how good a paint job I put on them, they’ll still looks out of place next to the pewters. *sighs*
