I painted this guy after realizing that I was pretty short on palominos in my gallery. I love the flare of the Arabian mold and the color seemed like it would be a perfect match!
Unfortunately, he didn’t come out quite like I had him in my head– which is still a common theme for my customs. I know as I work on my painting skills I’ll get better, but it’s always frustrating to start with one vision and end with another.
The mane and tail are too yellow, and I think the coat color was a little too dark (although there are some pretty dark palominos out there). The pink hooves are also really bugging me, not sure where I pulled the reference for those from but they look wrong.
… And this is why artists hate looking over their old work, we always see things we could improve on! (Also one reason why I was so bad at declaring portrait horses ‘finished’ arg.) Apollo Dancing Apollo Dancing
