I have no idea what to call this color, beyond ‘Martha was bored and had access to stencil brushes.’ …Which is a dangerous combination!
This little guy started with a white guesso base. Then I took a medium sized stencil brush and went over him with greens and blues, starting with the lightest color and working upwards. A little silver garnish and some black points finished him off.
I made sure I left some white peeking through and that the colors didn’t blend together by waiting for each layer to dry before starting the next. It was fun to watch the color slowly come together, although it took a lot longer than most of the other painting styles I was using at the time.
Add a nice high gloss finish and you have a pretty nifty little horse! I did a few other horses in the same style, I think I called them ‘Stencil Horses’ at the time.
