Five Things I Learned From February

  1. It is entirely possible for me to post daily for an entire month, assuming I use posts about old model horse customs to fill the gaps.
  2. I really need to post more in Perish Twice, Everyday Dragons, and Martha.net.
  3. If I don’t start posting something other than Saturday Story Prompts, I’m going to go mad.
  4. Daily resolutions are all well and good, but I need to set time aside to do them.
  5. People who find this website through Google rarely get what they are expecting (if the bounce rate is any indication)

Serializing My Brain (or: Muses and other Insanity)

I’ve been meaning to try and hammer my out the kinks in my story-building process before November (and NaNoWriMo) rolls around again. Of course the main problem with my process is that I don’t have one… and Pantsing isn’t working as well as I’d hoped.

So I’ve decided that 52,000 words is close enough to 50,000 words and that I’m going to write my next novel based around 1,000 word posts. This will give me one blog post a week for a year, something slightly more satisfying to ponder than a mere 50,000 almost-a-novel lump I ended with last year.

Will it work? Who knows! So I’ve decide a bit of practicing is in order… I just need to pick a victim.

All Night Long

All Night Long

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Saddlebred (G2)
Color: Liver Chestnut
Gallery: Chestnut
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

The G2 Saddlebred had a lot going for it when it came to customizing. It was easy to turn it into an Arabian, a Morgan (which is what I was trying here), a Hackney, even a light draft cross (Friesians were a popular choice). I ended up doing a lot of these and this little gal had the dubious honor of being my first attempt. (more…)

Read Moar Books #003

I actually started reading the third book in the middle of reading the 4-Hour Work Week when I needed a break from the madness!

Another ‘normal’-sized book (8.9 x 5.5) with 257 pages counting the Appendix and published in 2010, this looked like a nice solid read, hopefully packed with useful (and timely) information. I was already getting into the habit of using Google Calendar and Gmail, but there were hiccups and headaches that I hoped the book could help me overcome.
