I’ve always loved the bratty look of the G1 Arabian Mare, so much personality in such a little package!

She started out as an original finish bay, but I finished her off as a nice flaxen chestnut. This was back when I was still learning how to shade, so there isn’t as much contrast within the body color as I’d like, but she came out pretty well.

The G1 molds were based off of Hagen-Renaker ceramic molds, but most of the G1s lack the details of the H-R molds. This is due to the gradual deformation of the plastic molds over time. If you go looking there are some fascinating articles about the warping of some of the traditional molds over the years.

Anywho, since the mold lacked detail, at lot of the mane is simply painted on. It’s one of the things I like best about how Rose turned out, but it’s not something I’ve really tried on any of the other models.

All sorts of fun things to look forward to trying again!
