Dog Daze

Dog Daze

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Swaps (G1)
Color: Black and Tan Doberman
Gallery: Darwin
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little gal is the first time I attempted a non-horse pattern that was based on another animal, as I remember. She came from staring at the mold trying to pick a color to paint her… and realizing she looked a lot like my roommate’s dog.

Instead of painting her a solid black, I went for a dark bay, leaving the black points and turning the tan portion of the pattern into a more palomino color. So it’s the right pattern, but the wrong hues to be a true Doberman repaint. I think she turned out rather well and as I remember she did end up selling to someone who collected all things Doberman, so it worked out well!
