Run Rainbow, Run (Custom Breyer Stablemate Thoroughbred)

One of the fun things about taking custom orders is that customers come up with challenging paint jobs that I wouldn’t have done on my own! 🙂

This was the custom order in which I learned that yellow hates green with a burning passion—or at least the Liquitex yellow hated the Liquitex light green that I had at the time. No matter how hard I tried to blend them, they just wouldn’t play nice.

Dell’Arcobaleno and Poco Sole were direct spin-offs of this horse, since the visual of a sunrise/sunset à la equine was too tempting after seeing how Rainbow came out. But you’ll notice on my other rainbow horses, the yellow is off in a corner by itself. *mutters*

And of course Rainbow isn’t her real name– I just can’t find my notes so I’m not sure what Carly actually named her. (Sorry!)

Medium: Liquitex White Gesso, Liquitex Acrylics (???)
