Daily Snippit: High/Second World Fantasy

There was a saying once –long ago when my mother’s mother’s mother was just a child– that only in the darkness can you know light.

But that was before they raised the second sun, the shining star of Dehusal’s might, and old sayings had no meaning anymore. There was light, and only light, and under Dehusal’s loving gaze the world prospered. I stand in the light of Eversun, three mother’s time past the last sunset, and only now have I learned the truth.

Only in the light can you know darkness.

I like it when something circles around like that.

I’ve always been a little leery of the stories that end with Good(tm) completely vanquishing Evil(tm). I’ve always held to the school of thought that insisted one couldn’t exist without the other. ‘Bringing balance to the Force’ and all that. *thinks think-y thoughts*
