Just a thought…

If Knowledge is Power…
And Power Corrupts…
Doesn’t that prove that Good is Dumb?

actually.. it’s Power Corrupts, Absolute Power corrupts Absolutely.

Which implies that regular, run of the mill Power only corrupts sometimes.

So.. ergo, Knowledge only corrupts “sometimes”.

Which is why you tend to have more evil geniuses than you have super genius good guys. but the super genius good guys do exist.

      Hmm, or it could be argued that the corruption is minor in nature and thus easily overwhelmed by the inherent Goodness(tm) of the hero. Then again, you have a lot of antiheroes running about, so mayhaps they are just more suceptible to Corruption? Makes you wonder how many superheroes are running about that are a little too smart… and just seconds from loosing their grip on Goodness(tm). o_O;;

I wonder what the saving throw is against Corrupting Knowledge… *ponders*

i don’t know… i think it has to do with the character’s upbringing…. like Clark. He’s damn near all powerful, and super smart… but he’s also the worlds biggest Boy Scout.

You know, I think for Clark I’d have to argue that there is something in the whole ‘yellow sun’ exposure that makes him Good(tm). It gives him his power and protects him from corruption, otherwise I can’t see why he didn’t go cynical a loooong time ago. Having the power to save everyone and not having the time to save everyone really should have driven him mad. I mean with his superhearing he could hear people dying every second of the day all around the world. *shudders*

See.. I don’t think that would work. Because it doesn’t explain Zod and Co. Who have the yellow sun thing. I think it comes down to his upbringing. I mean… would you want to disappoint Martha or Jonathan?

Well Zo & Co haven’t been exposed to it as long… ^_~ *grin*

i have distinct trouble contemplating a universe where Zod is a GoodGuy(TM)

Think of it less as a sudden change and more as a long term reevaluation of core beliefs. There is no one so evil as cannot be redeemed, and no one so good as cannot fall. ^_~

                    *jumps in*

Which is why we have all these else worlds comics and alternate realities where Clark manages to lose it and head on over to the dark side. It’s all just to remind us of how close he actually is to crossing that line on any given day. It’s also a good reminder to us to not mess with the man’s loved ones. O_o

                    *scurries off*

                    1. Martha Bechtel

*grin* Which just means I’m not the only one thinking Clark’s overdue for a walk on the dark side… ^_~
