It was a small sound, at first. Just a plaintive mew, and the faint echo of something feline wandering the room. As the days passed, it grew stronger, louder, until one morning he awoke to find the ginger tomcat curled up on his chest purring contentedly. Two tiny air demons lay decomposing on the bed next to him and he gave Boots a congratulatory skritch.
“That musta taken some work, eh cat?” Boots headbutted his hand and rowled hungrily. “Eh, fine. I’m up, I’m up.”
And with that the wizard and his human familiar went downstairs for a bit of breakfast.
