Daily Snippit: High/Second World Fantasy

There was no time for subtlety, nor mercy. As he passed the battered remnants of Lylian’s army, Tosa tore the spirits from their hosts and scattered them among the dead. With each step he could feel Nazami’s horror echo down their link, but it wasn’t enough anymore. He had killed Videa, there was nowhere left to fall.

Nononono, Nazami flung herself against the barriers Tosa had thrown up around her in his mind. This wasn’t right, this wasn’t Good. She was a thing of Good and every dying scream cut through her, tearing away great chunks of self. Trapped since Videa had first stepped foot upon the flagstones, Nazami had burnt herself to shadows, clawing at the walls that held her back. She was almost gone, and when she left Tosa would fall fully into madness. She couldn’t stop him, couldn’t save him, couldn’t bear that Good could die so easily in war. Nononono…
