Daily Snippit: Other Fiction

Start with an object, any object, this apple for example. Then spin a world around it, woven from the root of what the apple is. What the apple could be. Too overused? Then use this ring. Pull it apart, atom by atom to learn its secrets. Who made it? Why? Is it silver, or gold, or copper, or something else not quite within the bounds of nature? Was it meant for a King, or a Queen, or a wife? Is it merely a bauble to wear, glittering upon a hand, or something more sinister? Was it physics or magic that shaped the band, spun in gossamer threads and woven by sprites, or twisted under a jeweler’s watchful eye? Spin forward, spin back, a thousand years of history unwind along the metal bands. From house to town to county to country to empire to world. All from a single ring.

Or apple.
