Daily Snippit: Urban/Suburban Fantasy

Someone had moved the world while she was at lunch. Tara stared at her desk in confusion, it was the same and yet subtly different. Subtly wrong. The stapler was still where she had put it, the in and out boxes still held the same papers. Even the cheesy little Christmas tree Shawn had given her still flaunted its plastic braches in the corner. Only…

Hesitantly, Tara reached out to touch the top of the now suspect desk. The wooden surface melted around her fingers, and she froze, watching the ripples travel the length of the cubicle.
